First, let’s look at some facts about illegal immigrants in the USA:
• According to Pew Research, there were 11.3 million illegal aliens living in the USA in 2016. They account for less than 4% of the US population.
• Eight million illegal immigrants are part of the US civilian workforce employed mostly in farming and construction work.
• The majority of these alien workers are employed in just 6 states. The states of California, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois employ 59% of all illegal aliens.
• About two-thirds (or 66%) of these illegal immigrants have lived in the USA for a decade.
• About half of illegal immigrants are Mexican, but immigration is increasing from Central America and Asia.
Yes, surely there are people who will argue that they are “contributing members of society”. But not so fast there people… Let’s take a closer gander at those numbers. According to a recent Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) Study (Sept. 2017), Illegal Immigration Costs $116 billion annually! We
therefore have to ask ourselves how can 11.3 million illegal immigrants be costing the US $116 billion per year?
The study examined the cost of illegal immigration through a detailed analysis of federal, state and local programs that are available to the nation’s illegal immigrant population, their U.S.-born children, or
accessed via fraud.
The report noted that the $116 billion cost of illegal immigration falls on state and local taxpayers disproportionately – by a ratio of roughly 2 to 1 – with state and local expenditures totaling $88.9 billion and Federal expenditures totaling $45.8 billion, with only approximately $19 billion recouped in taxes. This accounts for $8,075 per illegal alien and citizen child prior to taxes paid, or $6,940 per person after taxes are paid.
The costs of illegal immigrants and their children outweigh the taxes paid to federal and state governments by a ratio of roughly 7 to 1, with costs at nearly $135 billion compared to tax revenues at only $19 billion.
On the federal level, medical costs, law enforcement, and other government services, represent the highest costs. While at the local level education,public services, and medical expenditures were the highest costs.
California, Texas, and New York are the top three states based on total cost to state taxpayers for illegal immigrants and their children.Their local and state taxpayers are the heaviest hit with these costs in the form
of higher taxes. Okay, so now that we’ve established some statistical information about illegal immigrants.The cost of keeping illegal has soared under the Obama administration, mostly due to healthcare costs. Meanwhile, state and local taxpayers are disproportionately carrying that tax burden.
Now, let’s go back and revisit the fact that DACA is illegal! That’s right, DACA was an invalid rule that had no authorization from Congress; instead, it was a bold-faced refusal by then-President Obama to enforce our
immigration laws. Following DACA itself, unaccompanied alien minors shot up over ten-fold by 2014.
When you then consider that 66% of these immigrants have lived here for 10 years or more, why doesn’t anyone talk about why they haven’t become citizens by now?
But wait, there’s even more! Remember the statistic about law enforcement being one of the largest parts of the federal costs? According to the FBI, 22%-35% of the murders committed were by illegal aliens! And yet, illegal
immigrants represent under 4% of the nation’s population! That means that an astounding one quarter to one third of all murders committed were committed by a small percentage of our total population. They are violent
criminals who shouldn’t be here in the first place!
Furthermore, these criminals translate into big expenses for the tax payer. After they commit these crimes, we are then paying for the judicial processes designed for our citizens, and affording them all the rights as
well! According the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, U.S. taxpayers are paying almost $19 million a day to house and care for an estimated 300,000 to 450,000 convicted criminal immigrants who are eligible for deportation. Instead, they are currently residing in local jails, state, and federal prisons across the country. According to Ann Coulter, “In 2005 -- nearly 20 years after the 1986 amnesty -- the Ninth Circuit was still granting amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who claimed they had been unfairly denied because they were not in the country for the first amnesty. ”While it should be ludicrous to be able to argue, “I’ve been discriminated against because I didn’t break in earlier,” in essence it means, that if anyone gets amnesty, everyone gets amnesty.
Illegal aliens bring much larger health and education costs, commit a disproportionate amount of violent crimes, and add a much larger portion of criminal costs to our tax payers than do its own citizens.It would behoove us to ask ourselves why any “public servant” would want to support the increased costs to tax payers and drain on our legal and prison resources. What’s the benefit for the American people? If there is no appreciative benefit for the American public to having illegal aliens here, and there does not appear to be, then what’s in it for the politicians using it as a bargaining chip?
